Branding photography can come in many forms but I think of it as environmental portraiture which is essentially editorial photography. It’s about showing the individual or individuals in the context of an environment as it relates to who they are and what they do. That usually means the workplace and finding a setting there. If it happens in someone’s home, I think of it more as lifestyle photography but even so, it’s still environmental portraiture. This assignment had lots of possibilities as the headquarters had different stations that amounted to “sets” in which to shoot the various subjects. There were very few windows in the building so adding light but trying to avoid making the images look “lit” is what I strive for.

"Headshots" is a loose term for corporate portraits as these are "table shots" and "hands in" as I like to say. It's the little things but I love shooting hands in. Often, in studio, when someone can't relax, I seat them just like this and shoot them at a table. It works really well. I suppose it's not a "headshot" strictly speaking, but you can use it as such.
